Parent Pathways Scholarship
Parenting is a full-time commitment. However, that should not be a barrier to parents seeking to go back to school for a college degree or professional certification. Whether you are married or a single parent, you may struggle with the financial responsibilities of raising a child while going to school full-time.
At Castellano Law Firm, we want to help alleviate this burden by opening the Parent Pathways Scholarship, a $1,000 opportunity open to one student per semester. We will be accepting applications until the final deadline of January 13, 2027.
Students who have questions may contact scholarship@castellanolawfirm.com.
Application Requirements
Balancing the responsibilities of parenthood while pursuing higher education requires dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance. To be considered for the Parent Pathways Scholarship, we ask that students submit a 750 to 1,000 word essay responding to the following prompts:
Essay Prompt
Describe how being a parent has influenced your educational journey.
Discuss the challenges you have faced, the strategies you have used to overcome them, and how earning your degree or certification will benefit your family, your community, and your future goals.
Please include specific examples from your life that demonstrate determination, resilience, and commitment to personal growth.
Applicants must also provide proof of enrollment when submitting their materials.
Evaluation Criteria
Our scholarship judges evaluate all essay responses based on the same set of criteria, as follows:
- Do you explain how your degree or certification will better your community or further your goals?
- Do you provide clear examples of the challenges you have faced, drawn from your life experiences?
- Is your essay well-organized, describing your journey as a parent in higher education?
At the end of the judging period, we will contact the winner directly before announcing the recipient on our website and social media.
